Gabor Fichtinger received BSc and MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering, and Dr. Univ. degree in Computer Science from the Technical University of Budapest, Hungary, in 1986, 1988, and 1990, respectively. He has a balanced academic, industrial, and clinical background in the development and clinical inauguration of image-guided surgical interventional systems. His specialty is robot-assisted image-guided needle-placement procedures, primarily for cancer diagnosis and therapy. Dr. Fichtinger is a Professor of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Surgery at Queen’s University, Canada, with adjunct appointments at the Johns Hopkins University, USA. Dr. Fichtinger holds a Cancer Ontario Research Chair in Cancer Imaging.
