Dr. Elaine Holmes Visit (Nov 11 2016 - 07:30 to 09:30)
  • Prof. Holmes is the Head of the Division of Computational and Systems Medicine and a Professor of Chemical Biology in the Department of Surgery and Cancer at Imperial College, in London, UK. Matthew and Thomas gave brief presentations about their thesis work while Martin showed her our REIMS unit and talked about initial results obtained.     • Vinyas, Matthew H, Ryan A: Queen's Admissions staff came to view PERK Lab research first hand in order to have a better understanding of the research done at the school while recruiting.  Additionally an incoming 2nd year and incoming 1st year student attending due to their interest in the lab.
  • Shad Valley Program Laboratory Tour: (July 21) 1:45pm - 3:00pm
    • Marie, Vinyas, Matthew H, Ryan A: High school students in the Shad Valley program were given a guided lab tour and shown demonstrations of projects developed by the Perk Lab.  The students were able to interact with the Mobile Image Overlay System and Perk Tutor in hands on demos.
  • School of Computing 45th Anniversary: Lab Open House  (June 14) 9:00am - 11:00am
    • Ryan A, Matthew H, Vinyas, Manjunath: Visitng alumni for the 45th anniversary of the school of computing were shown demonstrations of current projects in the lab and given a chance to interact with current students.  Tracked breast resectioning and the mobile image overlay system were demonstrated.
  • Dr. Kasem PerkTutor Demo (June 9) 10:00am - 11:00am
    • Ryan A, Matthew H: Demo'd the PerkTutor lumbar puncture procedure to Dr. Kasem, a visitng scholar from the Max Plank Institute in Hanvoer.  The tracking systems and PerkTutor metrics were explained.   
  • Science Rendezvous (May 3) 10:00 am - 300 pm
    • Manjunath, Franklin, Matthew H, Ryan A, Tamas: Over 3600 visitors.  Demo'd tracked operation game using slicerIGT and mobile image overlay (MIOS) for duration of day.
  • Queen's Discovery Day in Health Sciences (May 2) 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
    • Manjunath, Franklin, Matthew H, Ryan A: Ran demos and spoke with two groups of high school students.  Basics of computer assisted surgery was covered, with reference to imaging and trackers in the lab.  Demos were tracked 'operation' game using slicerIGT, tracked needle lumbar puncture with simulated ultrasound and performance analysis using slicerIGT and Perk Tutor, and mobile image overlay (MIOS).
