Gabor Fichtinger received BS and MS in Electrical Engineering, and PhD Computer Science from the Technical University of Budapest, Hungary, in 1986, 1988, and 1990, respectively. He has a balanced academic, industrial, and clinical background in the development and clinical inauguration of image-guided surgical interventional systems. His specialty is robot-assisted image-guided needle-placement procedures, primarily for cancer diagnosis and therapy. Dr. Fichtinger is a Professor of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Surgery at Queen’s University, Canada, with adjunct appointments at the Johns Hopkins University, USA. Dr. Fichtinger holds a Cancer Ontario Research Chair in Cancer Imaging.
